Why we say no to things
Signed and period pieces, branded watches, collectible coins and significant stones are usually worth more to a specialist than to a metals buyer. We tell people that and we lose the item.
The alternative is buying something at scrap that a family member researches two years later. That transaction is legal, it is not defensible, and it is not how we want to have operated for twenty years.

Every piece is tested, weighed and priced separately while you watch, against a market reference we show you. Nothing goes into a back room.
An executor has to be able to explain a transaction to beneficiaries and possibly to a court, and a single number for a whole box is not an explanation.
No pressure, deliberately
Take the offer away. Get a second one. Come back next month, or not at all. There is no expiring price and no reason to decide on the day.
Somebody sorting out an estate is dealing with a great deal more than a transaction, and applying pressure in that situation is a straightforward failure of decency.
